Hi everyone,

I want know the meaning of spurious interrupt & why it is used .Could anyone please me know ?

Thanks in Advance.....

spurious interrupts are unwanted interrupts of short duration on any interrupt input line..

caused due to some design problems ,electrical inteference, signal glitch.
reason for spurious interrupts are actually the unstableness of interrupt signal.
it can be also produced when the processor detects error in processing an interrupt request

No one would choose to implement a 'spurious interrupt', unless perhaps it was in some sort of random fault generator!

tralne has indicated some likely causes for spurious interrupts, and they are all symptoms of faulty design, faulty circuits or faulty components. One additional cause must be faulty software; there are several design faults which can lead to the software incorrectly handling an interrupt while it is processing a previous interrupt. Conditions in which multiple interrupts can occur in rapid succession may appear as 'spurious interrupts' and will reveal software faults which can go unnoticed for years.
