Hi,
The Book by Gelb is an excellant introduction to Kalman filtering. For RLS and other variants refer Simon Haykins Adaptive filter theory.

If you have particular question about Kalman filtering do refer it to me.

Have a look at the book "Adaptive Signal Processing" by Bernard Widrow and Samuel Stearns.

If you already have MATLAB, chances are that there are some demos there. Or look with Google.

I'm affraid I can not help you more, since I do not have what you need. And won't do your homework.

Cheers, and good luck.
