When we say that we are effectively reducing the capacitance when we finger transistors ....wat capacitance are we talking about exactly ?
 

The drain capacitance.Because the drain node is mostly the node where the signal varies and source node is fixed at either vdd or vss

U mean drain to substrate capacitance ?
 

It's the diffusion to body capacitance. Hence, it applies for both source and drain.
