what is the functionality of instruction memory and data memory? the diagram is as below
 

well in this book my david peterson the instruction memory and data memory are separate for single cycle datapath
instruction memory stores the instuctions that are being executed while data memory is used to store values and addresses

well where do u study?

what kind of info u need more

u cant access the instruction memory directly
only thing u can do is to do jump command

u can directly access any memory address in data memory by simply load and store commands

u didnt tel me whts ur institute?
 

i need to know the operation of the two memory. how to use jump command ? and i am from universiti tunku abdul rahman.i need to know more details about this two memory how to work in this processor .thanks a lot !
 

for this u have to see the assembly command set for this processor
its on 1st 2 pages of the book that ur reading
pcspim is the software that ull need
chk out sample codes on the internet
click helped me if u think i really helped u

more over plz tel me if u have worked on serial communication or at commands on a gsm modem thanx

now i just need to write the specification of the memory ...i oso need a memory map .pls help me
 

i feel interesting on the topic that you all discussing...can i have further information about this two memory that you all discussing now?

1.i curios bout from instruction memory there output is 32bit and it need to separate into few lines and i wonder how it separate.

2. can i know the function of data memory and instruction memory in this MIPS design?
 

can anybody help out the function table of register file in single mips
