make pic programmer

i wnat to make any PIC programmer if any body tell me about.
i can't purchase, please remember.
i am in Pakistan and that is very hard to buy the programmer from other country.

Any ProPIC 2 circuit is a good one because it programs almost all useful PIC's with the free ic-prog software and does not need a programmed PIC to build it! I like the original ProPIC 2 hardware, plans downloadable from

The parts are relatively simple to obtain (I got the ic's as free samples) and if your skills are OK it is nice to build and a neat design.

Depends on what chip do you want to program,

I've used a P16Pro (www.picallw.com) it's a reliable simple to build, free programmer, but you must pay for the software.

Now I turned to EPIC you can search this forum and will found the
schematics and the link to the software as I know it's free.
And it CAN use Microchips' HEX32 files, and CAN program a 18F8720 too.

i'm using propic2 (also i'm developing single side pcb for it)
it is nice but original software propicXP have some bugs with newst pics
so i recomend ic prog
if you have problems with ic prog (maybe you need configure hadware interface)

If you need simple programmer for PIC16F84, look at **broken link removed**. There is a simple programmer, that doesn't need external power supply - it's powered by the COM port. This schematic is very popular, try to search with Google with keywords "JDM programmer", "COM84 programmer".

I'd recommend a Dtait serial programmer, because it is cheap&easy but correct (not like JDM) hardware-wise. A lots of programmers support it, so you won't be stuck with it.

Free programmers: ic-prog, winpicprog

Supporting a new type of PIC is a question only of software, not the hardware. If you find a programmer software for the new type, you can already use it.

self built pic programmer

hi all friends
i wonder from an important thing i think it should be noted from you why in the project part list there is no information about the resistor's watt value althougth it is important for example i have a resistor 470 ohm in different formas in 0.5 watt and 1 watt and 3 watt which one i should use also the power supply is 15v that is ok but how much it's current why all that imformation ignored please i hope a quick answer thanks:cry:
