I have a design including 2 stages

Input ---- Stage1 ---- Stage2 --- Output

Input: 50 Ohm, 0 dBm, 2 GHz

Stage1 output: Z1o = R1o+jX1o, P1out 15 dBm

Stage2 input: Z2i = R2i +jX2i

Output: 50Ohm

How should I match Stage1 output and Stage2 input?

What if Z2i is not a certain value but can be one among a value set and has not been decided yet? Should 50 Ohm be chosen as reference?

if Z2i varies then Z1o has to vary accordingly... you have to take care that they vary in accordance with each other else reflection would occur not to mention the occurence of standing waves... 50 ohm works only for certain cases...

come on dude you cant match a circuit without knowing atleast the range within which it would fall...
