I want to link 8051/PIC microcontroller to any GSM mobile handset. Can any one suggest me the best mobile phone model for the same. I have seen SonyEricsson T290i which is low cost and available here. If you have used T290i model please tell me your experience with the same. Alternatively suggest me any other make or model.

I guess you cand connect to an GSM mobile whit the same board . mobiles have deiffrent protocols(I think!)
I saw the board whit nokia 3310...I will look ofr that

Is T-290i has built in GSM modem? So I can send AT command directly to it, any idea?

u can check it by connecting cellphone to hyper terminal.search on the forum ,it has been discussed many times

use mobile phones or GSM modems with "AT COMMAND"

AT command is standard

sms control using 3310 FBUS

I have designed a home security system using mobile phone and AT89C51 microcontroller back in 2004. I was using Siemens M35i series because it's cheap, and the AT command was completely provided by the manufacturer. I think all old Siemens series are easily programmable. It's using the same data cable, and the most important thing is, you can download the complete AT command instruction. If you are using SMS command, don't forget to learn about the PDU format.

I am also interested in the same project.how do i find out whether my cell phone has a gsm modem?i dont hav a data cable to try at commands. i am also a bit confused about whether i should try fbus or at commands.

i used T290i successfully working with AT89c51:D
its very simple task

hi guys, i thought of using PIC 16XXX for the controller... it was suggested to get the ericson T10s, but unfortunately that phone is no longer available in my area. Have anyone tried other phone and it works well with the PIC 16 series? thanks!

so, they are the same in terms of their sending and receiving protocol? what about internal connection? do you happen to know any website concerning T290/230 internal structure or protocols? thanks!

check pmag March 2007 and April 2007. You could also use gsm modules from Sony-Ericsson and Wavecom (more profesional approach than just mobile phone).

Regards,

mImoto, i dont understand what you mean by pmag March 2007 and April 2007... i search in this forum and nothing came up. i also try in yahoo and google but nothing relevant with my topic appear. Do you mind to further elaborate? thanks!
