Re: What is server form Concept availble with tool vendors :

Hi gbaerf,

Server farm wrt to EDA means is a distributed processing farm. The most common distributed batch processing is LSF, where user issues an LSF bsub job and the command the tool goes of and runs in the background with the appropriate memory/CPU/priority task.

Some EDA algorithms such as routing, placement, formal verification etc. is able to take advantage of parallelism and an LSF bsub job will be able to spawn off into parallel machines. Most EDA tools have LSF settings to support this today. In the background these just run some rsh, csh jobs and runs in batch.

The benefits obviously will be to maximizing compute and EDA license resources based on priority.

Hope my answer is clear. Let me know and I could expand on them.

Hi adam,

Thanks,
yes your answer making me somewhat clear....
As per my understanding now with you answer is using some command we make that perticular application( tool) on sleep without closing it so that some memory space can be free for some time and that can be utilize by some other tool (applications)... please comment " i am right or wrong" .....
And can you please eloborate more on following points: (it is too technical for me):

1.) LSF bsub job
2.) LSF Setting And
3.) In the background these just run some rsh, csh jobs and runs in batch.

Thanks again...

with regards,
