Dear all,

How to be an expert in AMXS IC design ? One approach could be to go through the most important book (Razzavi, gray & Meyer, Allen, Baker, Martins) and for each topic make an adequate compilation of knwledge taking into account the best of each books while doing as many exercice as possible... and then try to apply as much of the knowledge in one's current job..

This is likely an exhaustive study work.. and may be very tiring and difficult..?

Any comments.suggestion about this ? Any other approach to be proposed ?

Feel free to dissert the way you want, welcome !

regards,
Tahar.

i think practical work is the way , no studying will help unless u suffer the problem by urself then try to solve it by making some new adjustments u think of or try some known solutions

1. Study in the right place.
2. Be involved in great projects with great colleagues.
3. Books, books, books.
4. Never give up.
5. See number 1.

I do not have 1 and 2, :(

My personal opinion is to ask question. Keep asking yourself or your collegue. Then, give yourself a answer and most important is to verify it. This is my sharing :)

Then, zxdeda, you have to have 4. :)

Right!

make mistake,
do it after failed again

experience comes after bad judgement
and good judgement comes after long experience.

So, make mistake,
do it after failed again then you can be a perfect AMS IC Designer
Thanks!

Expertise in AMXS design is twofold I believe:
  1. a strong knowledge
  2. problem solving skills
for 1., ±20% of this knowledge doesnt have that deep consequences providing that the basics are acquired.

2. can really make the difference even if 1. is less than expected.

How to get 2. ?

well, to solve as many problem as possible while doing this in a structured methodological way.

and then having some distance (or panoramical view) over so many solved problem enable to classify problems according to the right methodology to be applied.

I come from a quite mathematical background so this may sound a little bit too deterministic and can be counterbalanced by procedure based on the use of intuition...

Anyone can discuss the place of intuition in analog design ?

feel free to comment.

i thinks mistakes leads only to fresh mistakes. always think that you dont want this plan ( whatever it is..) to go wrong. it gives you the real passion. now there is no shortcut to become an expert. you have to sweat. remember nothing comes for free in this world.
here is my advice,
1. be associated with great people. always learn from your team, ther mistakes and their success
2. ask all questions immediately. never hesitate even if it's a silly doubt.
3. get your hands dirty! work on real world issues and that is the best university in this world.

wish you a great success
