why not place contact directly on the gate of transistors?

Hi,
I mean the channel area of mos. Under some circumstances, contact and via are placed directly on the gate of mos in anti-radiation application for an example. Many design rules also mention that it is not recommended to place contact on gate.

You know that Cgs is significant in MOSFET, if you connect the driver directly to the MOSFET gate without a resistor, you will make the driver output overloaded or even shortcircuited and it must be blown out.

Since the insulating material is very thin, the process to try making the contact will destroy the insulating material.
