temperature sensing robot

ok i'm making a temperature sensing robot head for my school project, its not exactly a robot but it still responds to its environment. Depending on the temperature different coloured LEDs come on along the forehead( the higher the tempereature, green, yellow, red) i also wnat it to have different facial expressions as the temperature changes, this is the part that i'm stuck on. uhmm if anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated. ohyh i can only use dc motors. Thanks for your help in advance :D

if you post any pictures please explain them. Don't make them too complicated because i'm still only doing my GCSE

colore sensing robots

No MCU ?
You may use thermostat to short led power for desired temperature.

colour sensing robot

how are you planning to make the facial expresion?are you going to link the LED in parallel with the RED, YELLOW, GREEN? This mean you have three facial expresion? How are you going to know the temperature different? No digital circuit...?

colour sensing uses robot

If you can not use any microcontroller, then you are going to use the leds to build a facial expression.
questions:
1- How many temp. values did you consider?
2- If four. Are you able to light them?
3- If yes then you have finished half the problem.
4- If not we have to start from there.
5- Are you thinking to make the robot walk?
6- Is there any common points bw temp. and robot walk?

its meant to be simple and everyone understands colour code, I'm pretending to be making this for an old person who is NOT colour blind and wants something simple, lets say he never went to school, dosen't know numbers

no its just a robot head it won't walk ( wish it would but then it would be waaay higher than gcse level and need more funding), the temperature is linked to the robot face at less than 10 degrees the robot makes a kinda dead look (eyes closed, funny noises etc) at 16-20 degrees the robot makes a kinda uncomfortable face, still working on the expression, at 20-23 degrees it smiles and at 24+degrees its a sad face, the face will be controlled by motor i'll prob have 2 fat metal wires as the lip (prob solder- easy to bend) i can'y use latex for the face yet( at this stage)

so thats basically IT thanks a lot guys.

funny robot head

Another request i would like to ask is for a small simple circuit for a small dc motor ( like the ones you find in those toy cars) the circuit should make the motor turn for about 90 degrees in 3 secs , go back to the original position and the turn the other direction at 90 degrees again the repeat the process, thanks guys.

easy sensing robot

For the motor there are 3 types of motors DC
stepper
servo
each type is good for special purpose.
the first is good for applications were to precision is needed . it is simple.
the second is for precise uses like 20 degree turn etc.
the third is a comb. of the first with mechanical gears.

So depending on the application you choose the type and the circuit is easy just let me know.

You told earlier you are using leds to draw facial expressions!!!!!

now it seems your face is moving , eyes closing....

where are the coplored leds?
Can you be more obvious so that I can help you and start to work?

application of temperture sensing robot

Temperature sensing =

1. ambient temperature ?
2. radiative measurement of the temperature of a body in front of the robot ?

The mouth expression can change without any motor. Imagine an RGB led matrix and a mouth generated by those in any shape or colour you need.

i think you read my post wrong, the 4 leds, will be on the forehead, the faces are just addons to make it a bit more complicated than just some simple year 9 project but i want to use a dc motor to ......... control the facial expression. for example i need a motor to move the eyes just left and right, the motor should turn clockwise for 3secs then anti-clockwise for 3 sec, stop, anti- clockwise for another 3secs, then clockwise again

thans in advance again

i think i gt what you're saying, its a board with a lot of leds on it and some are swtiched on to form a shape, 8O however i'm far into the project to chage my idea but why didn't i think of this :x and its just measuring the temperature in the imidiate enviroment outside the ehad shape ( it has a thermistor sticking out of a hole at the middle of the head)

what did you do?
for now you need a motor to turn eyes left and right so you need a small dc motor with H-bridge

what else do you have?
if you could not find Hbridge circuit I will post one.
remind me are you using a microcontroler? which one?
