HI guys,, i have a problem as to how to control an ordinary speaker via software (Borland Delphi or Visual Basic?) through cat 5 LAN Connection.. pls help.. God bless..:)

Describe what you want to do in more detail.

You need hardware for this. You can't plug a loudspeaker directly into an ethernet port.

Hi,

Actually your problem is kinda weird, I dont get it.:D

;-)

If you using CAT-5 cable as ordiary cable between soundcard output and loadspeaker, check output working dircetly to speakers beforing using CAT-5 cable, and remember, most soudcards output is a line level and cannot feed loadspeekers directly without amplifier (embedded in speakers or separatly)

You need two things:

1. A circuit that accepts digitized audio stream packets from the lan. This circuit must convert the stream to analog audio, amplify the audio, and deliver the amplified audio to the speaker.

2. Appropriate software to generate and transmit the audio stream packets.

This is a complex project if you will be doing things from scratch!

thanx a lot guys...:) appreciate those infos.:)

here's what i wanna do.. a paging system for our university using our LAN connection...

using 1 pc, w/ an input audio thru mic.. i wanna brodcast an audio thru many speakers connected via LAN, that is using RJ45 connector in a cat5 transmission medium,, speaker having a port of utp lines (ethernet port), that is RJ45 acces.. power, volum, switch, etc.. of the speaker will be controld by the pc.. borland delphi language will be used to create a software for the paging system...

to lambtron:
any circuit for that speaker?
i plan to develop a module using Borland Delphi as the software environment..
tnx,,,:)

to throwaway18:
is there no way to plug a speaker via ethernet?
cant those twisted pairs be used as a medium for the speaker and the pc?

to all:
is this feasible??:) thanx a lot guys... Godbles..
