hello,
i want to know how could i estimate the noise profile of a circuit say an OTA.
as i have done noise simulation but i cannot decide wether the results are good or not , i dont even know what to expect.
thnx

plz keep it simple, i want only basics.

Re: noise

u can show the contribution of each device in the output noise from spectre.

From the results menu choose print --> noise summary and adjust the seetings u want

noise

i want theory not simulation , i.e. how to expect the profile before simulation , as i get the profile but it means absolutly nothing to me

noise

suggestion:you can do some hand calculation for the input-referred noise, and compare with the results of inoise

Re: noise

For an OTA, you would expect a classical noise profile:

1/f noise at low frwquency then a thermal noise floor at higher frequencies.

Concerning the values, it is hard to estimate noise by hand. However, hand analysis would be necessary to see which devices contribute more noise to the i/p. This can be done simulation too as eng_semi pointed out
