and 74hc08

Hi,
In one of my projects, the pjrc board with paulmon for example, I am getting only
74HC08 chips instead of the actual 74AC08 as mentioned in the parts list of the board from my vendor.

Can anyone please tell me the difference between the two?

Will it make any difference if I substitute 74HC08 for the 74AC08 ??

Both, it seems are quad 2-input AND gates. I shall anyhow try other places to
get the AC version.

But my only doubt is the difference between HC and AC??
Any ideas?? Please help.

regards,
Seemanta

74ac08 cmos

The difference is the speed.
HC: high speed cmos
AC: advanced high speed cmos

HC is remplacement of LS TTL
AC is for S of F TTL family

hi

it doesnt make too much difference
just differeces r quick responce to input(which is very rarely used)
and the difference in power usage

LS use much power
HC use low power
AC use very low

so it depends upon ur requirements what u want to make

For projects such as PAULMON and similar, with Vcc=5V, any IC labelled as 7408 will work; it can be LS, HCT, AC or whatever you can get ..
