Re: SPLD

Hi

What is the difference between SPLD and CPLD?

Is SPLD a non-volatile like a CPLD or volatile like an FPGA?

Regards,
Vishwa

Re: SPLD

The difference is number gates. CPLDs are more complex and incorporate macro cells. Both SPLD and CPLDS are non-valatile. The CPLDS from ATMEL and ALTERA are now flash based and hence reprogrammable.

SPLD - Simple Programmable Logic Device
CPLD - Complex Programmable Logic Device

SPLD is the ancestor of CPLD. That is why its structure is simpler.

Re: SPLD

Hi

SPLD Simple Programmable Logic Device is used as another name for PAL,PALCE, GAL or other devices with small number of macro cells.

Programmable devices with large number of macro-cells (>=32) and more complex macro-cell and interconnection architecture are CPLDs.
