HI to all
do you have experience with Altera Nios II Processor and MAC-net core to connect an embedded application requiring high-throughput network connectivity to the network?
Please help me :
1-What is the price of cores, is there any open core for this purpose?
2- I already downloaded the reference design from Altera site. Now I don't know is it sufficient to build a working project or It needs other components.
Please give me your guidelines and recommends.
Thanks

Nios II Processor

Hello layaghi,

The MAC core (10/100) from Opencores (www.opencores.org) is very famous. I don’t have experiences with it but there are a lot of people who are using the core within a Nios II system. Beside EDAboard there is another forum which I think is more helpful for questions regarding Nios II: www.niosforum.com

Nios II Processor

What development platform are using?

Are you planning to use sipoc builder? Can yuo please be more specific about application?>

Nios II Processor

www.opencores.org for the 10/100 Core. For NIOS II, you can't get it for free. You can only get a time-limited version.

Re: Nios II Processor

The open core can been tested using LAN91C111?
The LAN91C111 have MAC+PHY,can I only use the PHY?

Thank you !

Nios II Processor

I don't believe so - NIOS I And II have a core to communicate with the LAN91C. This isn't a MAC, since like yo usaid, the LAN91C is a MAC+PHY combo. This is more of an avalon bus peripheral so you can talk to it through NIOS.
