(I asked this on the freescale forum, but i thought i'd try here too :) )

Hey there fellow freaks, I'm new to the world of HC08, so I apologise in advance if i've made a dumb mistake.

I'm trying to develop a custom DALI Slave application.
**broken link removed**
I have the above hardware, but I am unable to connect to the slave board in monitor mode.

I have replaced the chip (MC68HC908KX8) with a new one, and was able to connect to the slave board using monitor mode, but once I flashed the chip with the dali slave applicaiton code I was unable to reconnect to the slave board using the monitor mode.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this problem? Is there a config register I need to configure? or a vector to the monitor mode that needs configuring?

I'm using the example s19 software file that you can download from the Freescale website (just do a search for DALI to find it)

Downloadable code for the DALI reference design
Software/Slave/Executable/Slave.s19

From memory this problem only really started to happen when we changed memory location FF7E from FF to FE, but I'm not 100% sure on this

Quote from datasheet:
After the code is replaced the memory position FF7E (FLASH
Block Protect Register) has to be set to FE.
From:page 61 -Digitally Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) Unit Using the MC68HC908KX8 Designer...

Any help on getting into monitor mode would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance,
oddbudman

PS doing a search for 'DALI' on the freescale website should list all the data sheets and software I have been working off.

Freescale has a document (EB367) that describes the requirements to enter monitor mode. The doc is attached. In table 1 page 7 the entry requirements are shown. It might thus be because the bytes are changed from FF to FE, but it could also be due to the wrong freq. Have a look at the file and let me know if thats not the problem, then we can search further.
