Hi all!

Not sure if EEQ is the right forum,...

I noticed interesting effect for which I don't have explanation.

Some special tones of blue (like traffic lights on railway station and blue LEDs) looks very blurred.
For example I saw rolling text made from these blue LEDs and thanks to that blur-effect it was almost not readable!!

So question is --

- is blurring caused by my eyes or generally by human eye?
- dispersion in air?
- anything else?

?

thanks

The blurring of blue light is normal in human vision.
Therefore glases with yellow coloured lenses improve contrast - they filter out
all blue light.

Human vision degrades with age. Compare your observation with friends that have your same age.

Try looking at the blue light through a small aperture, such as a 2mm diameter hole, held close to your eye. The light will probably appear much sharper (although dimmer), especially at night.

Hmm, this explanation seems reasonable to me...

But could anybody explain what's the physics behind the blurred blue and eye?

echo47 - i think this is not caused by age primarily

Thanks

i also have this blurry vision of the blue lights. i'm also only 19 yo.

i have only noticed this problem recently. i often describe this as "confusing" situation. i also need to wear perscription glasses. could that have something to do with it? i used to wear the UV protection glasses, but recently i got the low-grade "economy" glasses with no protection.
