[semi-n00b question here, so pls be nice 8-)]
Consider a simple, audio-effects box used in a professional recording studio:
An audio in, two-layer pcb's doing both analog and digital processing, then audio out.
Both in and out are balanced, line-levels, commonly used in sound gear.
The...
Encouraging, BradtheRad and ads-ee, thanks. Your replies confirm my sense that edaboard is going to be a good place to hang out.
From the gist of your replies, I'm reading between the lines that it will be OK to post my question mentioned (in o.p.) about the LM741, et. al.
(If that's not the...
I've been enjoying reading edaboard for many reasons, but the one that really stands out for me:
edaboard seems more open and broad-minded than, say, Electronics.StackExchange.
Sure, the S.E. sites are frequently most helpful, and I personally go there almost daily - especially when I get...
Excellent replies, much appreciated! Your explanations make sense - and FvM's direct box image cinches it as I believe the circuit is used for live, musical stage gear.
Is the frequency of that shunt as simple as an RC (e.g. that 51Ω x 10ηF) ? Or would the H of the cable have to be included...
Thanks for the replies. OK, sorry if that was confusing … thought it would be clear from "line in" that this is audio.
That balanced-line microphone cable goes straight into the primary of a Jensen (audio) transformer ( I'm assuming it has an input Z of about 600 Ω, secondary goes straight...

Hi All,
I'm assuming the lift sw (when open) causes the "ground" to float some (thus the name "Lift"), and/or decouple a (possible) DC component in the signal?
Can anyone explain what's really going on here, e.g. attempting to eliminate ground loops, and when / why it would be needed ?

thanks for the prompt reply, Brian, and, you're welcome - that was precisely the problem I wanted to avoid :))
EDIT: thanks, too, Brad
Another similar, related question, if I may: Is there a specific forum, group, album, etc. holding links to outside, but helpful reference material, or is...
Hi All,
I have a few specific, intermediate to advanced, audio electronics questions. But I'm uncertain where to post as they overlap forums: the questions are RE audio signal levels and quality, but also with schematic / part selection, and PCB trace layout.
please advise.
thanks!

thanks, alexan and brad --- odd I looked at the advanced options and didn't notice. The google search is a cool idea, amazing that it digs that deep.
BTW, I know "thank-you-only" replies are discouraged as superfluous, but I think it might be appropriate here. For the prompt and workable...
Greetings,
is there a token / mnemonic for searching a specific forum (via search box at top right corner of menu bar)?
In my case, I already knew the forum it would most likely be in, so something like
' 60hz 50hz converter forum:power electronics '
granted, maybe a bad example as the...
