Hi, I have a simple question about the input matching of RF amplifier.
If the amplifier has medium gain (about 15 dB), but bad input matching (about -3 dB), what is the impact of it to the whole RF system?
Since about half of the power is reflected back to the input path, does the bad input...
if the PA output is 1 W, with 50 Ohm matching, how can I determine the RF current at output and the corresponding co-planar waveguide (CPW) trace width?
This is my calculation:
Maximum current: Imax=sqrt[1W/50ohm]*sqrt(2)=200mA.
But do I need to consider the skin effect for the RF signal? If...
Hi, I have a simple question of today's DC/DC converter intial status.
Is it initially (no DC power-in) output voltage 0V and output impedance (DC) 0Ohm, and after the DC power in, the output voltage ramps up to the setting (for example 5V) and output impedance ramps to open?
Or is it...
For the SIW structure, full 3D EM simulator, like HFSS (FEM), CST (FDTD) should be used. The 2.5D simulator like IE3D, Momentum, Sonnet should not be used, since the the modelling will be more complicated and inefficient.
Hi, I have a question about the Agilent Advanced Design System (ADS) global node?
I am wondering how can I use it? How can I define a "Global Node" at the root design, and use it also in the sub-design for supply voltage, such as "DC15V"?
And how about the "Power Pin" in the symbol definition...
Hi everyone. I have a simple question about how to assign a string variable in agilent advanced design system (ADS).
For example, I want to assign the "port" component's "layer" attribute as an string variable "X", and I have already define "X" in the variable parameters. In this case, how can...
mmic bias power
Thanks, wireless man.
But I check many MMIC amplifier recommended layout, they all put the 100pF by-pass capacitors right next to the power supply pin of the MMIC (I suppose that is for drain bias). So in this case, I thought the RF choke is already integrated. Otherwise, I...
parallel address
Hi, I have a silly question about the microcontroller SPI interface.
Suppose there is a SPI signal with first 4-bit as address, and last 8-bit as a DAC code. I am wondering whether there are any peripheral devices that can convert this 12-bit SPI to a parallel 4-bit address...
dc regulator circuit for negative
Hi, everyone.
I am wondering whether you guys have any recommendations for negative DC power, convert -5V to -3V? Thanks.
op amp operation
Just a quick simple question about the op-amp, just like the uA741
Supposed the input common-mode voltage is about 1V, what will be the output of the op-amp, if the op-amp has no DC power input, or just have the negative power input -5V with positive 0V?
Thanks.
choke(mmic)
Hi everyone. I have a question about the drain current and voltage of the RF MMIC power amplifier.
Is it all the MMIC power amplifier integrated the RF choke inside? Does it also include some bias resistors also? Is the datasheet drain bias voltage directly apply to the transistor...
Hi, everyone. Do you have any experiences about biasing the pHEMT MMIC power amplifier at saturation mode?
I just thought that the pHEMT is similar to depletion JFET or MESFET, which requires negative bias. So the gate currents should be a very small number. However, for the power amplifer, if...
Hi, everyone.
I just got some SPICE library from the vendors for a couple devices, such as general purpose BJT, power FET, zener diode. I am wondering how can I build the corresponding device in Agilent ADS, by importing these SPICE model in "lib" format? Thanks.
sp4t switch
Hi everyone. I have a question about the SP4T DC power supply switch.
I need to switch a DC voltage power supply (15V) to four different boards, so I am going to use the SP4T switch. Which devices should be better, semiconductor or relay? Thanks.
