Thanks to everyone for the replies!
I separated the grounds on my board but the output of the optocoupler was very noisy. I have used a ground plane in the board. Although there is no connection between the two grounds, the board ground seems to be affecting the input of the optocoupler. The...
Hi everyone,
I wanted ask about the optocoupler circuit used to isolate a microcontroller and a motor driver board. Is it alright if I connect the input and output grounds together to make a common ground and connect it to the ground of the controller.
I was of the opinion that an opto coupler...
Hi everyone,
I am facing some problems in performing clarke-park transform for an induction motor(4 pole stator, squirrel cage IM).
I am measuring the rotor position from the encoder and using twice of this value as theta for the park transform(position in radians). But since the rotor speed...
Hi everyone,
I am trying to implement the current control (Id, Iq) of a four pole PM synchronous motor. I am having trouble in making the Iq current follow a set reference.
I had also implemented a cascaded speed control for a dc motor.
In that case, I adjusted the gains of the PI...
Hi everyone!
I am trying to find the parameters of a surface mounted PM synchronous motor using the application note AN4680 (PMSM Electrical Parameters Measurement) and had some queries regarding it.
The Ld and Lq inductance measurement process is mentioned as follows
I wanted to know how...
I am measuring both the speed and the current of the motor. I am using current (inner) and speed (outer) PI control loops for controlling the speed. Current is being measured by LTS 6NP and speed by the encoder, WDG 50B
Do you mean a freewheeling diode (1N5822)? I have them across the MOSFETS (IRF530).
I could not find the max input frequency for the MOSFET or the diode from their datasheets, hence I was not able to test beyond 20KHz. Do you think at high frequencies the performance will improve?
Hi everybody,
I have implemented PI control of a DC motor and it works properly at high speeds (50rad/s) but if I lower the reference speed to 5 rad/s, there are fluctuations in its motion. Initially, I thought it could be due to the limitation of my current sensor (LTS 6 np) but I added some...
Thanks dick_freebird for the reply!
I am driving it with IR2104 IC. could you tell me more about the device coupling, as I could not find much on it in the datasheet.
I am doing PI control of a PMDC motor. When I give a PWM frequency above 25KHz, it losses the PI control and starts running at a...
Hi everyone,
I am using IRF530 in a half h bridge DC motor driver. The MOSFET is behaving erratically if the PWM frequency is increased above 20 KHz. I checked the datasheet thoroughly but could not find any thing related to maximum operating frequency. Is input capacitance related in any way...
Hi everyone,
I have implemented PI control of speed of a PMDC motor under no load condition. I now intend to implement the same with a load added to it.
I want to compare the results with simulation as well. Is there any way of adding a known load to a DC motor. In my set up the dc motor is...
I think CncHobby's reply clears my query. My final aim is to speed and position control but I was suggested to start with current.
Initially at no load, the max current was 15mA and I was able to control the current below this value by reducing the duty cycle. But if I increased the reference...
Audioguru and barry, thanks for your replies!
I understood the point that current taken by the motor is dependent on the load and it increases when we increase the load.
The problem was that I was not understanding if there was any PI control action when I increased my loads (causing current...
Hi everybody!
I am trying to implement current control of a DC motor using a PI controller and was having a few questions.
I am supplying 19V as input voltage (and capable of supplying current upto 2A) to the H- bridge and the controlling is done via a microcontroller using PWM.
When I connect...
