Re: Embedded C books
If you are considering the PIC family; I found this book very good. It's a student textbook and ... it comes with a student version of CCS C compiler. The two chips it covers are the 16F877 and the 18F458. Its a good start to embedded programming in C.
Embedded C...
Try MELABS.COM
Code # PPUSB for their 18F4520 prototype boards. Cost is $19.95 + shipping. Quality is very good. Nice site to visit. Very pleased with their products and service.

sound card circuit interface oscilloscope
I recently purchased a Tek 465 on ebay for $130.00. This scope will do anything I want it to do. You may want to make the investment if you are going to troubleshoot PIC microcontrollers and Peripheral devices. It is great for measuring serial data...
What Network Analyzer are you using? Enter these measurements to a Smith Chart to get your Impedance. Or use the Network Analyzer options menu. I have found several Smith Charts on the WEB for free. All you need to do is enter the data from your S11 measurements onto a Smith Chart and that...
what microcontroller to use
I started with the PIC 16F84 and then worked my way up to the 16F877. Starting with assembler and then migrating to PIC CCS C compiler. It was fairly easy and did not take much time.
Re: RF IC layout
Your main concern is impedance matching. Use free strip line software to match impedance between components, such as Gain blocks and mixers or any other RF components. (Trace width Vs. K factor of the material of the PC Board.)
Re: RF and microwave
RF signals (Microwave) has something called a skin effect, which travels on the skin or outside surface. The reason for using tubing it is cost effective.
Re: RF and microwave
A power splitter will split the primary carrier into two signals. However; it does have a loss, in your case it is 3db. Any harmonics or spurs will not be reduced, without a filter. (dbc) If your primary objective is to pass a clean primary signal, without harmonics or...
Re: PIC and C languge
I recommend the book ... Embedded C Programming and the Microchip PIC. If you are considering the PIC family. It comes with a CCS C Compiler CD.
Good Luck
programing 16f877a with c
Are you going to start in Assembler? If so I recommend MPLab, its free. If you want to venture into C, I recommend reading the book, Embedded C Programming and the Microchip by Barnett. It comes with a CD (CCS) to compile your code.
Your question is very open...
The data sheet recommends 1uf. I use 1uf, for all my designs for faster charge time. Which allows higher BAUD rates. But yes … you can use 10uf, if you desire.
