Diode question - urgent help needed

Diode question HI all, I met a problem in my simple circuit which i cant solve for the past 2weeks. Attached in the circuit schematic and Output voltage. I wish to see the modulated carrier sitting the Squarewave with diode turn on/off effect. However, i cant justified the ringing output. Pls...

    Bandpass filter classification

Hey! Thank you so much. I thought the thread was dead. Im curious to know what is the drive behind all these different design? Do they each have their own pros an cons? Or just new way of doing things?

    ANtenna's 2nd harmonic yields a better S11 than its centre f

Re: ANtenna's 2nd harmonic yields a better S11 than its cent Okie roger that! Thanks

    ANtenna's 2nd harmonic yields a better S11 than its centre f

Hi all, i did some S-parameter meaurements my patch antenna designed at 1.5GHz. What is that the 2nd harmonic produce by the patch antenna yields a better return lose,S11 than the centre frequency at my targeted 1.5GHz? Is there anyway, to overcome the 2nd harmonic? Or is there any explanation...

    Bandpass filter classification

Hi all, attached is a Bandpass filter design i extracted from a paper. May i know which type is this design classified under? I read somewhere that there are 8 types of microstrip filter design approach namely stepped-impedance filters, open-stub filters, semilumped element filters, end-...

    Bandpass filter design approach

I had altered the BPF design from 4.4GHz to 1.5GHz. The schematic and layout is attached, can anyone point out some practical considerations beforei send this design for fabrication? Thanks!

    Bandpass filter design approach

Thanks guys! By the way, im using ADS. Attached is the paper i got from ieee on a kind of BPF. Im thinking of selecting an existing microstrip BPF design then tunning it my desired 1.5GHz by changing its length and width. I wonder how many types of BPF approach are there?

    Bandpass filter design approach

Hi all, It has been a constructive session for the last hour after browsing all the threads on this topic. It provided me a surface understanding of the availability of methods around. I wish to design a 1.5GHz BPF. I have been constructing a 7th order BPF based on AADE filter design software...

    Ringing Squarewave - filtering problem

Re: Ringing Squarewave Hi! Yes, the fault indeed lies in improper grounding as i did not solder the SMA flanges to the ground. The waveform looks much nicer now! Thank you FVM!

    Ringing Squarewave - filtering problem

Re: Ringing Squarewave Yes. i did get a nice squarewave when connecting the pulse gen to the oscillascope. 1) Howdo iverify that the 50ohms SMA are really 50ohm? I just request them during the purchase. 2) WHen you mentioned dimension are very different, to what degree of difference are you...

    Ringing Squarewave - filtering problem

Re: Ringing Squarewave Hi there, I did another trail run with a different SMA connectors. THe flanges for this new SMA connector is in contact with the backside ground but not soldered on. With this new setup, problem still persist. What exactly is the ringing about? My feel is that the cct...

    Ringing Squarewave - filtering problem

Re: Ringing Squarewave Oh.. In another words, is the microstrip too small? Th flanges i assumed to be the grounded contact is not soldered to the backside of the microstrip.

    Ringing Squarewave - filtering problem

Re: Ringing Squarewave Yes, i do understand. LC affects the filter behaviour. I also designed the filter based on a 50ohm terminated port impedance. I just dont understand why even without the L, the ringing still occurs. By shorting the 2 points is as good as applying to square wave to the...

    Ringing Squarewave - filtering problem

Re: Ringing Squarewave Yes, port2 has a L=27nH, Port1 C=100pF. I did try to isolate the problem by doing a opencct at port 1(removing C) and a short cct at port2(removing L and short the the 2 points using solder). By doign this, the ringing waveform still persist.
