Re: spectal inversion
hi! zorror,
i am wondering how one can mathematically prove by swapping I and Q and multiply -1 to Q, the spectrum can be reversed back.
Thanks!

hi! all,
i would like to know how i can demodulate a QAM signal while the spectrum is inverted due to mixing process?
i can extract both i channel and q channel fine, but the receiver needs to reverse the spectrum somehow.
thanx!

hi! khouly,
my professor and his t.a. are definitely no help. my friends and i estimated the device width from the text. we are trying to find a more deterministic method to ensure an appropriate Ids to keep the transistor in saturation.
we were told that to simulate the transistor by...
hi! khouly,
you are absolutely right. i am planning to do the rf differential amp first, then the switch then the active load. i am using 0.35 um cmos technology.
i am totally confused by the next step after i fiugred out the dimension of the transistor. i know i am suppose to figure out...
thanx for the replies so far.
yes, i am studying the gilbert cell mixer. the professor has not been very clear about the whole procedure. i figured out the width of the transistor, but i became confused by the rest since there are too many variables.
so, i should figure out Ids next, right...

hi!
i am trying to learn the design procedure for a mixer. could someone tell me how to determine the bias current and the bias voltage for the device, since the source of the device is at different potential as the substrate.
thanx!

cmos saturation
hi! all,
this may sound like a stupid question. when i was in college, i was taught that when designing a FET amplifier, i should keep the FET in the linear region.
however, i was told now, whenever i design an CMOS analog circuit, i should keep the transistor in saturation...
gds to dwg
hi! all,
i would like to know whether there is software that can translate *.gds file, which is cadence layout output file, to *.dwg or *.dxf file, which is an autocad format.
thanx!

depending upon your device model, you should consider agilent ads. orcad spice can do the job, if you set it up properly. if you have bsim4 model, then you probably need to use cadence virtuoso.
ciao!
thanx for the reply
The filter needs to be active, because the cutoff frequency is about 1 MHz. The components for the passive filter, namely inductors, would be too large. The filter needs to be differential, because both the signal source and the output interface device are balanced...
Hi! All,
I'm new to this. Could someone help me in designing a differential elliptic active filter? If there is any software can do this, I would like to know whether it exists.
Thanx!
