    insertion loss and attenuation

    |S21| dB is the insertion loss but I would call it gain (power gain) for an active circuit/amplifier >0dB and will call it insertion loss if passive/lossy circuit <0dB For passive circuits/reciprocal S21 = S12.. This is not the case for active ones. For instance, amplifier magnify the signal...

design of antenna using hfss software

Hi, There are hfss examples for antenna. The simplest way, i believe is to use hfss antenna design kit to create the model. After that, you can optimize the antenna for your application

Help! hfss err: Typically a lumped port contains 2 conductors ...

The lumped port does not touch the ground. Try to extend it

    Omnidirectional Antenna Optimization in HFSS

Hi I would say minimize the difference between the MAX and the MIN of the gain in this plane. Thanks Shehata

design Substrate integrated wave guide slot antenna using CST microwave

You can start with slots on metallic waveguide. Then add the VIAs later on.

Problem in HFSS with meshing at different frequencies

It beame only stable when meshing at 160GHz. I have a large discontinuity in my structure but I expected the adaptive meshing to be smart enough to get it. I think the way hfss does its convergence check is not efficient. It should check the actual field values instead of S parameters

Problem in HFSS with meshing at different frequencies

Hi I am simulating a filter with HFSS 13 driven modal When I mesh at different frequency I have a very big difference in the response Attached is a picture for meshing at 77 and 75GHz Thanks

Simulation of CB-CPW on ADS momentum in the W band

Thanks a lot! I want also to add that this type of simulation agrees with HFSS if you make sure that the modes are slot e.g. no parallel plate modes Attached is a snapshot for a simple CPW line. The figure shows the agreement between HFSS and momentum

Simulation of CB-CPW on ADS momentum in the W band

I have found the best results can be done with slot line based simulations as advised in ADS examples

Simulation of CB-CPW on ADS momentum in the W band

Hi I am trying to simulate CB-CPW on ADS momentum. I am a bit worried about the ground port definition in momentum. Any clue? Thanks

How to model a slot antenna in HFSS

Re: slot antenna in hfss Hi I suggest you start with the waveguide alone (2 port problem) and verify the simulations with the theory. Then add the antenna. If you have any problem plz send the file

How to reduce the first sidelobe level of microstrip antenna array

Hi I did not look in the file but decreasing SLL is usually achieved by tapering the amplitude of the array factors.

need to match this dipole array URGENTLY

Hi You can sweep the phases offsets and find the value set that corresponds to the beam direction you want. It is a post processing sweep so you do not need to re-simulate, Cheers, Shehata
