you must compare serial links with parallel with same technology. as technology adveces and engineers like to design serial links, the speed also increses.

DSB-Sc is one kind of AM . In conventional AM the carrier is not suppresed but in DSB-SC the carrier is suppresed. Conventional AM has a simple demodulator unlike DSB-Sc.

You must know the main reason and idea of biasing. then there are some biasing networks for discrete and integrated circuits. the microelectronic of sedra is a good reference.
yes, if you know the bias you can apply it for any kind of circuits with small variations.
current mirror as active load
It is not desirable to have low output impedance. because the gain of AMp is reduced. the main reason that current mirrors are used is that we had a single ended amplifier which has high Gm.
CMOS switches
switches are implement by P or N nmos or both of them due to their better conductance. but in analog circuits such as A/D some complicate switches are used to prevent distortion(Vgs=Vdd).
flip flops types?
Because each of them has specific characteristics which made them suitable for each application. for example D and T filpflop is appropiat for conters. But jK and Rs filpflops is suitable when you want your data be latched.

If you have impedance mismatches in input or output (receiver or transmitter) some of wave can be reflected. you can study transmission lines in david cheng book.

The length of channel (L) is the ost important parameter. short channel devices hav good frequency functions but have small gain. Threshold voltage. probably you need som extra devices or layers in your design such as poly2 metal 3,... .
