We need more information. What's your power supply, a battery, bench top supply, a voltage divider, other?
If it's a battery or a bench supply, it does not matter, as long as you connect negative to negative and positive to positive.

I'll double check with a tachometer, but from the research I've done, off the shelf mowers in the use have a max blade tip speed of 19,000 feet/sec. For my 21" mower that's 3455 RPM, fine for the alternator.
Lithium Ion battery connected to an iPhone dock connector. The USB cable is connected to the battery's charging input. Pretty easy to make one yourself.
