How to instantiate another vhd file inside testbench, where the testbench is used for opening files

@barry, I did as you said, i instantiated readfile as a component in a testbench, did the necessary generic & port mappings & was finally able to load the data into my filter! Thanks a lot for your help, "just instantiate readfile as a component?" This solved my problem! Regards.

How to instantiate another vhd file inside testbench, where the testbench is used for opening files

My BAD, testbenches should not have entities, they must have components, I will update it immediately. Thanks for pointing it out! Edit: The problem it seems is that ReadFile should be a testbench, but testbench should not have any entities, hence ReadFile should be a component of a testbench...

How to instantiate another vhd file inside testbench, where the testbench is used for opening files

The problem it seems is that ReadFile should be a testbench, but testbench should not have any components, hence ReadFile should be a component of a testbench I guess. How can I do that? Can anyone guide me?

How to instantiate another vhd file inside testbench, where the testbench is used for opening files

I am trying to learn how to read from file in VHDL, the vhdl_code.vhd implements a low pass moving average filter, I already have a separate vhdl code Read_File.vhd that reads the data, now I have to read the column data from the file data2fpga.dat, and perform the low-pass operations in...

Role of Power Electronics Engineers in the industry

I have a question for people working in designing power converters in the industry. As a newly graduate, what should be the necessary skills I should acquire to thrive in this industry? 1. The thing that confuses me is that there are a lot of monolithic IC's that just require an inductor and a...

    LTSPICE IR2110 Port(Pin) Count Mismatch

There are only 11 symbols in the file and I only used 11 of them for the ir2110 driver. I uploaded the wrong picture after adding two more pins, the problem was happening when the .subckt only had 11 pins as written in ir2110.lib file. Yes you are right about the MOSFET, I will import the MOSFET...

    LTSPICE IR2110 Port(Pin) Count Mismatch

Well, I took the spice model from the manufacturers website and did the create symbol thing where it automatically creates the symbol. Then I compared the datasheet pin numbers with the ltspice model, in this case, were not the same, and renamed them according to the datasheet. If I am able to...

    LTSPICE IR2110 Port(Pin) Count Mismatch

Hello everyone, I am trying to simulate this LTspice circuit using a TL494 PWM Generator, IR2110 MOSFET Driver and IRF3205 Mosfet, however I am getting the following error I named the pins for the IR2110 based on the datasheet as shown in the figure below. I understand that 4 pins 4, 8 and 14...

[SOLVED] Implementing a PID controller from a transfer function

Ok added a limiter that reduces the duty cyc;e to98% and works as a charm, thanks for the help. These little things are the most bothersome ones :D I am marking this as solved! Thanks again!.

[SOLVED] Implementing a PID controller from a transfer function

I changed the Rlower to 125.2 ohms, that way, when the output of the converter is 20 volts, the input to the positive of the Opamp terminal is 2.225 volts, since Vout = Vin/(1-D), it should boost the 11.1 volts to 20 volts. Increasing or decreasing the load didn't change anything, the simulation...

[SOLVED] Implementing a PID controller from a transfer function

    20V * 0.0999 = 0.1999Vfeedback It is not 0.1999 it's 1.999 around 2.0V, Rest is as you mentioned, voltage division using resistors.

[SOLVED] Implementing a PID controller from a transfer function

Hello everyone, this is the boost circuit that I am trying to implement. It has an input of 11.1 volts with output of 20V and Output power of 60W. The switching frequency is 100kHz. The closed loop bode plot is shown below While designing the Type-3 controller in MATLAB, I chose the corner...

[SOLVED] Tuning PID controller in PSIM for a Synchronous Buck converter

Hello all, After redesigning the closed loop control, was finally able to get the required overshoot of 0.2 volts. Here is the circuit and the output voltage response respectively. Since most IC's have built in soft-start function, the overshoot will be lower than 5.2 volts,( I hope). Thanks...

[SOLVED] Tuning PID controller in PSIM for a Synchronous Buck converter

I don't want to bother you too much (insert sweaty smiley emoji here :D) but, I don't know Limiting C1 voltage: "two antiparallel diodes across C1" says it all. what this means. Like this? I attached a photo.

[SOLVED] Tuning PID controller in PSIM for a Synchronous Buck converter

I didn't account for the ESR of the output capacitor and the inductance model is also non-saturating, this is a first order design of the converter and probably I will have to redesign the compensator, but I finally understood the concept of the effect of the gain on the poles and zeroes of the...
