Current transformer measurement vs actual MOSFET drain current

Hi everyone. I am doing a high current resonant converter (full bridge) where the RMS current in the Primary of the converter is about 33amps. I have a series current transformer to sense the current in the primary (1:200 turns ratio). When I look at the current coming out of the current...

Inrush limiter for 2kW SMPS circuit?

I am assuming a boost frontend? How does the input voltage turn on looks like? What is the expected inrush current? Does the input source have internal current limit? What is the maximum allowed inrush current your SMPS can handle repeatedly? High current relays are not ideal solution and maybe...

Best places to put protections such as OTP, OVP, OCP?

Hi Everyone, I have a question I would highly appreciate any answer. I am designing a DC-DC Converter - 4 Interleaved Boost then Resonant Converter. I was wondering where is the best place to put the protections for the converter (Over-temperature, Over-voltage, Over-current). In your...

What influences the voltage between primary and secondary in SMPS x'mer?

Hi everyone, I want to understand the reasons for voltage to appear between primary and secondary and the reasons that affects this voltage magnitude. Inorder to design a compliant power supply one needs to keep isolation distances between primary and secondary circuits. But in order to get...

    30W Flyback with 30VDC input?

The flyback will first get energy from the input and then feed itself via a winding in the flyback x'mer and will work continuously until input is removed. Does this answer the question?

    30W Flyback with 30VDC input?

Can you elaborate more on that point? I specify which wire to use (First calculating the primary peak current in Full Load & Lowest Input voltage then selecting the wire gauge to handle this)

    30W Flyback with 30VDC input?

Firstly we use this core in a different product so the core with this AL value is well known. Secondly when we order the built x'mer from a manufacturer we specify the primay inductance range of the x'mer (+-15%) so each core will come within spec.

    30W Flyback with 30VDC input?

X'mer comes gapped by the manufacturer.

    30W Flyback with 30VDC input?

Hi everyone, I need to design an isolated 30W housekeeping power supply: Topology = Flyback Input Voltage = +30VDC (Primary) Output Voltage = +17VDC (Secondary), +12V (Primary Sensing) Output Power = ~30W (Almost all of it to the +17VDC secondary output) Efficiency = ~90% Control = Peak Current...

Flyback X'mer Clamp RCD Configuration question

Thank you for your answers. Why do we need the series resistance with the diode?

Flyback X'mer Clamp RCD Configuration question

Hello Everyone, In the RCD Clamp of a flyback x'mer I often see two variations: I can see they both operate the same but I was wondering if there is any differences between the two configurations of the diodes? Thank you.

[SOLVED] Isolated Flyback SMPS- High ripple on the output voltage?

Also try to get ride of R3 (the resistor connecting COMP and VREF he is unnecessary.

[SOLVED] Isolated Flyback SMPS- High ripple on the output voltage?

Did you try to short L1 and see if this are better? Having an additional LC filter after the flyback can make compensation very hard. See if shorting L1 fixes the issue.

    decreasing pulse circuit

@crustchow - 1. The duration of what? 2. yes 3. rather accurate. do note that I already have a 62.5kHz signal. @FvM - modulation waveform - linear or close to. yes stopping at 200ns, dunno what pw is. The idea seems good, any reason to not go that way in a soft-start kind of circuit? I want...

    decreasing pulse circuit

Hi Everyone, I want to build a circuit which produces shorter and shorter square-wave pulses. The frequency of the pulse is 62.5kHz and the pulse duration starts from ~100% duty down to ~200ns. To help with the matter I have a circuit that generates 62.5kHz pulse (25% duty). Does anyone have...
