Reading transistor datasheet ... need help

how to read datasheet transistor Zetex is renowned for transistors like this. You will often find that they also have rather higher Hfe at high Ic than many other small transistors. If you can find one to suit your application they can be an absolute saviour. JD

What are the basic steps to demodulate FM (general and FPGA)

Re: FM Demodulation steps Best way is to get a pair of quadrature signals and then solve for: X = I*(dQ/dt) - Q*(dI/dt) This is the same as the more fundamental arctan(I/Q) differentiated. Either use some math to solve the equation, or use an arctan lookup table. JD

    Pulsed Power in Resistor

power resistor pulse current handling Yes, it is far more typical to see 10R or even 4R7 in the gate. Typically I use 1206 size resistors for that purpose, but 0805 can be OK if you get metal film ones. JD

    @ltium General Usage Performance

I am also using the latest (Winter 09 I think) release. A couple of simple suggestions. 1.. Don't use Vista! 2.. Always work with files locally then copy them back to the server. We use CVS, so I check-out my design files from the server and work locally. My machine is a Pentium 4 3GHz with...

    Board Partitioning in Altium

Board Partitioning in @ltium The other way is to select components, create a 'ROOM' from the selected components and then have each designer work in assigned rooms. John

    Terasic USB Blaster Download Cable

terasic blaster usb I am using Terasic blasters now - since we seemed to kill some of our very expensive Altera ones. In fact our Altera FAE recommended the Terasic's as a replacement. We have no performance difficulties at all. Previously we had used some 'Chinese clone' Blasters which were...

Design issue Serial Comm. Isolator with Level shifting

Um, I am not quite sure I understand your issue. Answer a couple of simple questions: 1.. The 3.3V on the right hand side of the schematic is coming from a transformerless power source. (YES/NO) 2.. I (HAVE/HAVE NOT) a 5V DC source to power the stuff on the left hand side of the isolators...

exlpanation needed for this biasing circuit

Almost, but one important feature missing, tyassin. The combination of RB3 and C7 determines the AC impedance between the base of the transistor and ground. This arrangement would be used when the Thevenin equivalent (in this case the value of RB1 and RB2 in parallel) of the DC divider is well...

    Level shift for ADC input

Yes, a resistive divider is just fine in that case. JD

Help me please.........Very important question for me

It is actually more common to use RED leds for that sort of use rather than infra-red. Often the led is driven with a modulating AC source and then this is demodulated on the receiving side to remove ambient lighting artifact. John

    Audibly whining SMPS.....bad?

smps audible noise Maybe, maybe not. You will first need to know what frequency the converter is running at. If it is the same frequency you are hearing then it is likely that whatever inductor or transformer has something that is not secure and this is causing the whine. Ideally you should...

How do we calculate PMT bandwidth?

Re: PMT Bandwidth It depends entirely on what you are using the tube for. The transit time is going to define an upper limit which is well beyond the practical capability of most tubes. Transient response or rise time is generally going to give a far more realistic view of the performance. John

    Contract designer/consultant for hire.

Have you ever thought of getting someone to design a product, lay out a PCB or write some code for you? Maybe you thought it would be too expensive, but you may be pleasantly surprised. I have over 35 years of experience designing everything from low level microwave equipment to 50kW RF...

Help me change my job !

Re: Please suggest!! Maybe rather than just studying you should get some real learning? Get an FPGA development board, download the appropriate tool-chain and try writing a test-bench! Then you WILL know how to do it. JD
