hfss microstrip coupled bpf
an.t shalom,
My name is Ital and I work for the Ansoft representative in Israel.
I'll try to explain what you've read in the document, and then the solution will be obvious. The HFSS adaptive mesh algorithm concentrates in places that have high energy. If for some...
siwave port
wlcsp shalom,
I'll start with the easiest question. HFSS extrapolates to DC, it can give a better guess when used with the DC thickness option, but it's not a DC calculate per-se.
SIwave has a DC solver which gives accurate results.
When you say the simulation failed, I suppose...
siwave vs. hfss
Hi,
My name is Itai and I work for Ansoft's representative in Israel.
SIwave has a wide range of capabilities for Signal Integrity and Power Integrity simulations. It's features are developing rver apidly, so you always need to get the latest update from your local ansoft rep...
WTDOng shalom,
Please correct your model as follows:
1) You are interested in a sweep up to 12 GHz (right?). Please change Setup1 mesh frequency to 12GHz. You cannot expect a mesh in 3 GHz to give accurate results at 12 GHz.
2) If all you are interested is S11 then change Sweep1 to be...
ananth shalom,
Why are you using driven terminal solution ? Driven Modal should work just fine for you.
Anyway, I suppose that you are using interpolating sweep. If this is the case click the options button and check the Z0 convergence checkbox
Regards,
Itai
Buqpa shalom,
It is not true that Designer is slower than ensemble. They tuned it to be more accurate, but you can decrease the Edge Length Factor (advanced mesh settings) and get faster results.
Another feature that you would like is the 3D via features for the coax excitations - that will...
hfss gamma
1) For the sake of argument, below is a picture that shows dB(S11) as a function of the adaptive passes in HFSS on your model:
I changed the waveport solution accuracy to 0.001% and added another convergce criteria on dB(S11). For better S11, just add more passes.
2) For more...
hfss time domain
Kaiserh shalom,
Is your Microstrip a striaght line without any bends ? If so a 2D solution is enough.
Double click Setup1:
1) Check "Solve Ports Only".
2) Choose the advanced options tab change the port field accuracy to 0.1% (instead of 2%)
3) Still in the advanced option...
hfss modes
shalom hosseinali,
As a rule of thumb, to calculate the number of modes: count the number of metals in the port subtract one.
For example a microstrip waveport has two metals (trace+ground) which means you need only one mode.
Two close microstrip waveports has three metals (left...
There is a waveport tutorial in Ansoft OTS explaining this.
A few advanced remarks on CPW ports:
1) By default the waveport outerboundaries are perfect E. Do not make your port too high or too wide, otherwise you may excite different modes (waveguide modes). Try limiting yourself to lambda/2...
Re: HFSS problem
Have you tried using surface approzimation on the curved surfaces ?
Select curved objects . Right Click->Assign Mesh Operaiton -> Surface Approximation. Change the normal angle from 22.5deg to 5deg or so.
