    Heat Sink bonded to PCB???

I had a similar issue used an array of thermal vias, 16X 0,30mm hole on 1,0mm pitch to carry the heat through the PCB then used a thermal epoxy to bond an extruded H/S to the PCB. Like the previous poster says expect very poor spreading on the surface layer. If you are limited to same side...

    Sot23-5 / Sot323-5 Case markings

sot23 marking Hi, I'm trying to identify 2 devices by their markings one is a SOT23-5 & is almost certainly a 5V regulator (7.5V in) Pin 1 is Vo Pin 5 is Vin the case has the following marking on it - "J242W" the Second could be a regulator but I'm not as sure on this its a SOT323-5 & has "1C1"...

10w Boost SMPS has crowded layout

I've layed out lots of SMPS & in general lack of space is an issue on them - It's quiet difficult to predict how long the layout will require to complete, & there are compromises to be met all along the way. The best piece of advice I can give is to be patient, expect a lot of ripping up &...

Any easily used thermal analysis software?

Flotherm by Flomerics is a fully integrated package & so is Icepak from Ansys, I've used both but they are not as intuitive as CFDesign

Any easily used thermal analysis software?

thermal analysis software I use CFDesign from Blue ridge, IMO it both easily understood & used - but... you need a 3D interface such as solidworks ect. to create/manipulate the geometry.

Milling the PCB outline. What's the endmill diameter?

making a pcb milling bit I understand where you are coming from & if the chamfer is too tight to be milled with a standard mill bit size the best case scenario is the bottom left image. When you design the mechanical part to fit into this cut-out you will need to factor in a maximum mill bit...

Milling the PCB outline. What's the endmill diameter?

end mill copper pcb board In cases like this I prefer to insert a non plated drill into the layout in the corners of the cut-outs - this reduces the risk of the fab house getting it wrong.

No thermal relief at high current DC-DC converter?

thermal relief tombstone I've layed out a lot of DC-DC converters (up to 14 Layers with 3oz inners) I've never used thermal relief on the vias or on SMD pads & I've never had an issue with reflowing of SMD's. It a different story with PTH I/O pins I'd recommend thermal relief if there are more...

Orcad PCB Designer - Missing Place dialog screen

Hi I use Orcad PCB Designer 16,0. When using the Place > Manually routine the Place manual dialog box doesn't appear any longer, it is a floating dialog that give the option to add mechanical symbols - does anyone know how to enable this dialog box? Thank You.

HELP NEEDED WITH ORCAD PCB EDITOR

I use a gerber viewer called GCPrevue - you'll be able to look at the data with a viewer, take measurements & print out the layers but you won't be able to manipulate the data, you 'll need a gerber editor like CAM350 to do that.

HELP NEEDED WITH ORCAD PCB EDITOR

You need to select File > Import > Artwork. I assume you are aware these are gerber files, I've never seen gerber imported successfully into an ECAD system, good luck!

    Thermal Analysis on PCB board

what is pcb thermal analysis I use Orcad & to carry out a thermal analysis I use IDF out > Solidworks > into CFDesign.
