Service Manual for a Zuse Z3 computer, only partly joking

I really could use something like this, preferably in English, but I can take it in German.

My project to build a relay computer

I am still alive, just been doing some other work that needed doing. I built another power supply, this one will be permanent in my adder/subtractor.

My project to build a relay computer

The major design work is now complete. I am working on aquiring relays, and am trying to find a cabinet of some sort to build it in. I am thinking of maybe a desk for the CPU, and other cabinets for periphrials. I will need to do one for memory, power supply, tape drive, etc.

    !New Project! infinity energy related

I agree wholeheartedly with House_Cat. You have yet to give a valid argument, indeed a complete one. Your 'argument' stops whith your explanation of time. It says what you think time is, but not HOW to convert it to energy. The First link is to perfectly legitimate references, but which one...

    !New Project! infinity energy related

But thats the thing. I do have an open mind to physics. If you can prove to me that time can be converted to energy, then my beliefs will be changed. If I can show myself that this is possible, then my beliefs will be changed. I know that funky things happen at the subnucleonic level, ie...

    !New Project! infinity energy related

Well. The antimatter thing first: Antimatter combined with matter creates a huge burst of energy. This is not infinite. It is dependant upon how much of each one has. Antimatter, such as a positron (anti-electron), was formed with the big bang as well as matter. One can just as easily...

    "universe" is expanding?

The Universe's expansion is accelerating, a result of the 'dark energy'. If not for this mysterious force, the universe's expansion would acutually be almost non-existent by now, and in another few billion years it would begin to 'fall' back in to itself as a result of gravity. As for what is...

how relay contact can be protected from di/dt?

Several ways there are to do this. First, try the capacitor idea. Put it parallel to the contacts, about .1-1 µfd should do. The other way is to put a diode across the coil of your contactor. Make sure that the diode is rated at a high enough voltage for the contactor coil (add about 20...

<After raising his right eyebrow much like Spock> Please explain and give a source for this odd idea. Black holes are my area of research. Therefore, I should have heard of this theory. Question: If a black hole is simply anti-matter, then how does one go about explaining the gravity (unless...

Have noticed an odd occurance with relays

Having replace the bad relay and anding the capacitors, which I was going to do anyway to reduce the problems of having contact chatter basically cause pulses to the coils of other relays, thus heating them. This is a problem with my old relays, not the new ones as much (some of the relay I am...

Have noticed an odd occurance with relays

When I built a test version of my clocking and counting circuitry, I noticed that whenever my TV was on channel 42 (Notice this bit of oddness right here, with reference to Douglas Adams greatest work) and a specific light was on, large amounts of interference would appear on the tv screen...

BIOS or Personal COmputer hardware simulator?

http://bochs.sourceforge.net Try this out, this will simulate a normal PC (among other things) As for logic level simulation: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=15930 If you want the English version, this tells you what to do...

Converting binary to BCD with basic gates

Re: Binary to BCD The problem, however, is that the savings on relays of doing it serially is that I would have to make a shift register to convert to serial. Everything is parallel. Another problem is clocking. My clock frequency is ~ 1hz (clock is a car turn signal flasher). This means...

Converting binary to BCD with basic gates

I was wondering if anyone knows any logic that can convert Binary to BCD with the basic gates, ie AND, OR, XOR, etc. I know how to add BCD, convert to and from decimal, but I cannot figure out this seemingly simple task. I would like to know so that I may incorporate it into my relay...
