Momentum is very similar to Sonnet, they are both 2.5D. HFSS and IE3D are full 3D EM simulators. I've used all four and I'd say they are all easy to use and give reasonably good results. For fancy structures, you'll probably have to use HFSS or IE3D, which needs more computational resource.
It's currently a hot topic within the academia. IBM Berkeley and UCLA have extensive work on this. There's no book available yet, you'll need to search the publications for design implementation.
Inductor
There are many 3-D EM softwares which use FEM to calculate the inductance of a spiral inductor. Hand calculations are usually based on equivalent circuit or empirical equations.
