hello all ,
i need to debug my embedded C program on Keil for a hardware project.
Now i don't know how to debug the serial communication parts of the program. I open the UART window, but it just shows the output. Now if i have to send any character to the UART, where do i type it? (UART...
@Gofs: Yeah, that's true.. capacitors could be used.. but in my circuit, i was adviced to use zener diode of all things!
@Sherazi: can you tell me if this circuit is a switching circuit or just a level transalator??
thanks sherazi..
So 10k provides enough current to signal to the 8051 that there is a HIGH on its pin?
But thanks, you cleared much of my doubts!

@Gofs
actually i learnt that the diode is connected in the wrong...
Thanks btbass,
i was not sure which way the diode is connected, but there is a diode connected! In fact, it happens to be a zener diode.. leaving the diode for a moment..
I had done the calculations just the way you have explained... i realized that i was getting different resistor values. but...
Thanks sherazi,
but my doubt is why only 4.7k is used to limit base current? why not 2.2k or any other value?? i'm confused about the designing aspect about this circuit. Besides, why is the pull-up resistor value always=10k? is there any specific reason.
PS: the voltage from IR sensor varies...
Hi all,
Just looking for an explanation of this circuit.. i know this is a switching circuit, but what's th use of diode?
Also can anyone tell me how to design this circuit.. i mean, why are these values of resistors used? why can't any other resistor be used?
I'm an amateur in this field, so...
Hi all,
I'm having trouble understanding this circuit.. It has been used in my project but i don't understand the design.. why are those specific values of resistors used?
What's the function of the diode?
what happens if the transistor used is PNP? how will it work?
Thanks!!
