Not a stupid idea! Probably could, had wondered about that. But the pic micro would have to control the varicap, adjusting it to peak the p-p voltage output from the filter. Could be a tricky algorithm, because it would have to work out which way to adjust the varicap (could be tuned to...
Got an NRZ PCM data stream, need to recover a clock from it.
The PCM data is via a radio channel.
Using an integrate-and-dump filter to recover the actual data from the PCM, so the clock is used to time this.
Using a rectifier, ringing filter, and PLL works well, but...
The data rate may vary...
We've been using PICs since about 1990, not in large quantities, only tens or hundreds each year. Some used in nasty conditions (relatively high temperatures). Don't recall having one fail yet, customers usually tell us when something breaks! Just switched on a 5 year old PIC based product and...
Re: How can I implement a PCM encoder in practice? Please he
As I understand it...
PCM is Pulse Code Modulation. That is just a stream of ones and zeros (or + volts and -volts, 0 volts and 5 volts, whatever).
You could do multi-level signalling, where you convert say two bits at a time into...
Re: Under Dumpling
I think you mean under damping (and over damping and critical damping).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Damping
If a system is under damped, then it will quickly reach a set output but will overshoot.
If it's under damped, then it will keep getting closer and closer to the...
Re: Need C compiler for PIC
If it's an 18 series PIC then a C compiler is available (30 day trial, or 'student edition', but continues to work after 30 days with some optimisations turned off) from microchip.com website.
Installs into MPLAB and all works a treat. But a hardware emulator...
