when am trying at+creg? am getting response of +CREG:0,0 which means 0,0 – not registered, MT is not currently searching a new operator to register. Even if i wait for long time am getting same error?

I am using sim900a... when i am connecting with pc through serial(rs232) or via usb (prolific usb to serial converter)port its getting detected and i could able to connect using rsterm as well as hyper terminal.. it displays that +cfun 1,+cpin ready, call ready that means sim card is working...
