Hello,
I have a three dimensional FDTD code. The problem I have for simulation is one dimensional. How can I use this 3D FDTD code for the 1D problem. The 1D problem is like this: in one-dimension half of the problem space is filled with a dielectric medium and the other half is free-space. A...
Hello,
I have written 3D FDTD code with Mur ABC which gives correct results for time domain data.
Now I want to compute the resonance frequency of a rectangular cavity using this 3D FDTD code.
I donot know how I will do that.
Would someone please advise me the steps I need to...

Hello,
I would like to get your advice on using uniaxial PML (UPML ) for truncating debye dispersive media.
What modifications do I need to make to the UPML formulations given in Taflove book third edition.
Any advice, paper, code reference etc will be highly appreciated. Thanks.
UPML for dispersive (Debye) media
Hello,
I would like to get your advice on using uniaxial PML (UPML ) for truncating debye dispersive media.

I am trying to implement MUR boundary in the FDTD code.
In Mur boundary (from the textbooks / other papers) I got equations for tangential fields of electric field components at the boundaries. That means I got equations for
Ex(jmin), Ex(jmax), Ex(kmin), Ex(kmax),
Ey(imin), Ey(imax)...
In Mur boundary, (in textbooks or papers) there are equations for tangential fields of electric field components at the boundaries i.e. there are equations for Ey(imin), Ez(imin), ... etc are available. But what about non-tangential field components at the boundaries i.e. Ex(imin), Ex(imax)...
Thank you.
I have found out that when CFL number=n is used, the source being used gets divided by 'n'. So the reason for the requirement to multiply any observed signal with 'n' became obvious. Thanks a lot for your support and advices.
Thank you for your reply
>In order to answer your question you have to give a few more details.
>1) How do you insert your sources
I simply considered a cubic space (say 100x100x100 cells), placed hard source (gaussian pulse at 3ghz) at the center (50,50,50). I am taking the observation at...
Hello,
I am doing simulation in ADI-FDTD and time step dt is 'n' times the maximum CFL limit of dt of normal FDTD. So, dt_adi=n*dt_fdtdmax. If I want to match the waveforms of ADI-FDTD and explicit FDTD the waveforms of ADI with dt above the CFL limit needs to be scaled up/ down by a factor of...
matlab fortran code
Hello,
My work is on numerical techniques which require to solve sparse matrices etc. All my work is in fortran and I have almost no skill in Matlab. But I have just realized that Matlab can do some computations quite easily with its built-in functions and I want to take...
mathematica help
Hi,
I need to get a simplified equation by setting the determinant of the following expression to zero:
exp(j.omega.dt). [i] - [G]
Here, I is an 18x18 identity matrix and G is an 18x18 matrix that I got by doing some symbolic computation in Mathematica (in fact G is huge)...
Re: need help please
Hi Smruti,
Although my query was about connection between dt and sparse matrix solution (probably related to perturbation theory of matrix), I do appreciate your advice on Sullivan's book. Thank you.
extract block matlab
Hi,
I have a 24000x24000 sparse matrix. I want to extract 4 blocks out of it;
(0,0) to (6000,6000)
(6001,6001) to (12000,12000)
(12001,12001) to (18000,18000)
(18001,18001) to (24000,24000)
By use of those my aim is to make a block diagonal matrix using matlab command...
numerical dispersion
Hi,
In Taflove book - third edition on page 110, section 4.3 'Extension to three dimensions' we see how analytical numerical dispersion formula has been derived. A system of homogeneous equation was derived and then determinant of the coefficient matrix of that system was...
