    Phase noise after comb generator

I wonder Sinatra's approach is valid for ALL cases. Could Sinatra tell us what is the multiplication factor in your design, and what professional generators do you use to make the comparsion?

    Simulating Phase Noise...

If the change is predictable, it is not noise. The phase change of a filter is constant for a given frequency.

Strange PLL phenomenon during the transition period

Strange PLL phenomenon What is the reference for the DDS, is it a TCXO? Will the reference of the DDS take time to settle?

How to measure settling time of PLL?

Rose_straw suggested a traditional method to check the settle time. I used this method when the freq domain analyzer was unavailable.

Help me with making RF Transceiver circuit

RF Transceiver Do you want to build your transceiver with discrete components, or mixer, lna, osc and demod/mod modules / ICs?

Bode diagram of closed loop transfer functions

Bode diagrams ? The bode plot of the open loop system provides you the gain, gain margin and phase margin. Based on this info, you can design the feedback network in order to meet the system requirement (gain, stability, ...).

difference between 3dB coupler and directional coupler?

directional coupler is a 4 ports network. Power supplied from port 1 is transmitted to port 2 and a small amount of energy is coupled to port 3. Power supplied from port 2 is transmitted to port 1 and a small amount of energy is coupled to port 4.

    1-20MHz crystal oscillator

20mhz crystal size This book "Design of Crystal and Other Harmonic Oscillators" by Benjamin Parzen (1983, ISBN 0-471-08819-6) introduces procedures to design a transistor based crystal oscillator. I FEEL there are two problems: 1. 10uA 2. variations of crystal's parameters. I FEEL (but not...

How does a microwave oscilloscope work?

equivalent time sampling oscilloscopes I don't think the sample rate is 80G samples / sec. The signal under test is a bandpass signal. If the sample rate is n*bandwidth, the bandpass signal will be downconverted to baseband. n = ?

    Overtone crystal oscillator

overtone crystal I think it is a special crystal that provides a relative high harmonic at the desired frequency. When I ordered crystals, I specified it was fundamental or 3rd tone.

Using 802.11a MAC in a FPGA?

Usually a 802.11a MAC are software base as the spec is being changed (eg. fixing new security holes). If it is hardware base, it is bit hard to upgarde. What functions do you want to implement in tx/rx MAC?

Do you know circuit with 7805 that increase the current??

7805 high current You can add an external transistor to increae the output current. It is a very common circuit. I saw it from NS databook (> 10 years ago).

    where to start 802.11b / low-cost

An ODM helps us to design a mini pci 802.11 card using atheros chip set. It takes 6 months (with > 1 engineers) to get the wifi approval but it is still full of bugs. Now a wlan card (11a/b/g) is cheap and widely available. I don't suggest you design your wlan card. Instead I suggest you...
