How do we calculate the wattage of a zero ohm resistor.?
My purpose is to use them in 230V AC lines which may carry maximum 600mA. How should i choose the resistor?
As per nature's Law every small piece of wire will have resistance and resistivity. Even though they mention 0 Ohm resistor they will have mostly milliohms of resistnace which is very low compared circuit elements resistnace. Every datasheet will mention maximum power wattage but,Few datasheets will mention maximum current also.
The same is with tolerance.
In some datasheets the manufacturer write a tolerance of +/- 1% to a zero ohms resistor.
Now what are the delimiting values? I bet every device is out of specification :shock:
For 600ma current,the power on zero resistor is 0.6*0.6*0.02=7.2mw,just consider zero as 0.02 ohm.
The better idea is to confirm with resistor supplier.
