xl_state() in xilinx system generator

xl_state

Anyone know what it is used for? I could not find any help in matlab and xilinx system generator. there is also a function such as "push_front_top_back". I have no idea what is it used for? It is in the "Compliling MATLAB into an FPGA" in the user guide but there is no explaination why do they use it?Thank you very much.
