Write with alphanumeric keyboard into PIC

Hello Every Body,
I want to write a C programm that receive commands from the keyboard 12 buttons.

The needs are :

For Example, When i press the '2' button one time , the Microcontroller accepts it as the A letter
And When press the '2' two successive times , the Microcontroller accepts it as 'B' , and so go on, as mobile phone method .

Please , is some one can help me to resolve this problem?
