working of 4 bit binary countdown counter

74LS193

I'm have 74LS193 binary counter and it counts from 0 to 15. I want to make it count to only from 0 to 9, what will i do with its 4-input to count from 0 to 9?

To count-up from 0 to 9 you need external AND gate connected as shown on the attached picture ..

I have used a nand gate instead, and that gives me the desired result.
