WiMAX design done by a digital designer

Hi...

In designing wimax or gsm what is the part of fpga...
I heard it is the joint work of software engineers and hardware engineers.

can a digital designer with verilog back ground can do atleast transmiter part..

thank u all for reply.

Ya he can, however it's prefered to use a good hardware electronics engineer as it's among their core specialization
