antenna position

why TV antennas are placed horizontally while FM/AM radio aeirals are placed vertically.
thanks

antenna position

the reference of the "artem" is more complete.
but in brief, it isbecause of the different polrizations of the two type of signals.

Re: antenna position

hi,
in case of wire less communication , in order to keep two or more signals from interfering , they are sent with different polarizations . so you get one signal at one angle and the other at the other angle .

regards
nik.

Re: antenna position

This is because of the type of polarisation used while transmitting singals.

Horizontal placing of antennas will intercept vertically polarised waves very properly and vertically placed antennas will intercept horizontally polarised waves properly.

low frequency signal will be attenuated by earth since it will act as a short circuit...so for low]low frequency, we are using horizontal polarisation..i think there exists some contradiction between ur idealogy and my idealogy...

Re: antenna position

Hi , hope this can help you.

The FM/AM radio aeirals are placed vertically ,beacause the vertical polarization affected from ground is smaller than the horizontal polarization. so the FM/AM radio aeirals need to place vertically in order to broadcast larger region.

well, I dont think so.
Usualy radio listeners are in car, truck, buses, so antennas in or on are vertical,
that mean TX must be vertical too for better reception.
Muptipath from ground isnt inportant when you are in moving car, there is
always some multipath.
