Older 8051 core do not have program memory inside the controller. The hex file is saved in the external eeproms. To access the external eeprom/ram the ale pin is used.

the 8 is the number before 9.

thanx for d prev answers

v know dat one machine cycle consists of 12 pulses ..or in other words the oscillator frequency is divided internally by 12..then hw come v get a pulse of 1/6th the oscillator freq @ ALE ?
