Why does the addition of two orthogonal signals occupy more bandwidth than a single one?
 

your question is ill formed
For example in a transmitter, we may use the original signal ( and then a filter and mixer) or we may use the I and Q signals of the original signal( and then a filter and mixer for each one). in the second condition, why do we have a wider bandwidth?
 

Post the doc, we can probably get it translated with a utility.
