I know the difference between continuous and
discrete time signals. But coming to reality,
Why discrete time is introduced and what are its
applications in daily life?

All digital signal processing is discrete time by nature. If you look around in a technical enviroment (or your home) you'll probably find more examples of discrete time than continuous time processing.

Since to do operations in discrete time is much easier and cheaper than to deal with continuous time. Analog circuits works with continuous time. However, these are expensive and unreliable compare to integrated chips. Integrated chips works with a clock which is discrete in time. Most of the electronic devices(computer, mobile phones, televisions, etc.), are based on these integrated chips ,today.
