UV lamps, why?

i would like to know what's desired from the UV lamps when using for toner transfer, is't only for heating or what ?
could it be replaced with any other heat source?
Regards,

Re: UV lamps, why?

It creates ion charges on the cylinder. The image is projected onto the cylinder to neutrailze the charge. The remaining charges attract the toner.

You should consult the data sheet for the material. I have seen some boards made by using the sun as the exposing source.
