Hi,
Why are the recomended pads on this TDK inductor so small?......they should be big as possible under the body...for heat dissipation.....its a shielded inductor so copper under the part wont get eddy current heated.

In use in SMPS, the pads should be big as poss?

The recommended pads are much bigger than inductor terminals, why do you say they are small? Did you read the drawings completely?

Hi,

I´d say the package drawings show a small pad. Just for soldering and for low parasitic capacitance.

The designer is free to choose a bigger copper area for heat spreading and and carrying current.
